Only daughter of her family, spoiled by her older brothers, and when they were killed, decided to follow their path and become a monk.  Became an apprentice at Kinzan Temple, but after a few years, her secret was discovered by Koumyou Sanzo.  Somehow, they fell for each other, and carried on a relationship in secret.  Eventually, said relationship resulted in a pregnancy, which she hid well until the seventh month, when she finally told her lover.  Together, they concocted the story of Kouryuu being found in the river, and so were able, in some capacity, to raise their son.  Although Miru tried to tell him the truth, her attempt was foiled by the powers-that-be ordering Makoto to erase the boy's memory.  Despite her dislike of the divine after her encounter, Miru became friends with Kisei, who smuggled both her and Koumyou out of the temple following the youkai attack that resulted in the theft of the Seiten Sutra.  Miru and Koumyou, at Kisei's near-order they get the hell out of China for the time being, travelled for some years until they were finally allowed to return and search for their son.  After being reuinted with their son, the couple moved in at Minerva's insistence.  A few years later, Miru and Koumyou finally married.
