The daughter of a bookshop keepery, Sachie met Souzou when she was thirteen and immediately fell for him. They were married six months after Souzou announced his intentions to her parents. Sachie was allowed a few happy years with her husband, during which she gave birth to Tsutomi, Takashi, and Tsumoru, and also raised Sanosuke and Katsuhiro. All four boys followed Souzou to join the Sekihoutai, but Sachie wouldn't let Tsutomi go. When Souzou was been killed, Sachie had a complete breakdown.Though she didn't truly love him, in 1872, she remarried to Souzou's friend, Sekihara Takehiro. When Tsutomi and Sanosuke got married, she let go, happy she'd be able to see Souzou again.
