Originally an English gentlewoman descended of the Tudor family, Emlia took to travelling and eventually settled briefly in China, where she met Enishi. Her elder brother made good friends with the boy and, when he saw how Enishi was set up to become very successful, arranged a marriage for him and his sister. Though the marriage was not what either would have done for themselves, there was an attraction, and at least a friendship. Enishi allowed Amelia to do as she wished after her brother returned to England, and helped her adapt to the culture. The two became closer after the birth of their son. In 1879, Enishi sent Amelia home to England with their children, and went to Japan to get his revenge on Kenshin. It wasn't until 1898, when Rumiko and Phillip went back to Japan, that Amelia went to Shanghai, was reunited with Enishi again, and died.
