Moriel's resented granddaughter; although her father was released, Caranel was kept imprisoned after her mother's death. In FO 511, the girl was discovered by Arehin, who brought her along when she was released by Moriel after a few months in Angband. The two travelled together for some time, before Caranel met and fell in love with the young lord of Eregion, Celebrimbor. They settled to stay there for a while, and Arehin left when Caranel and Celebrimbor were married. Caranel was happy with her husband, and eventually died of a broken heart after he was slain in the Second Age.
